Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Frontline WDJ50 window/door jamb anchor a good non-penetrating tie-off option for working in door or window openings?
Yes. The Frontline WDJ50 is a single-point, non-penetrating fall protection anchor that clamps inside a structural door or window opening — no drilling, screws, or damage to the building. Its adjustable arms compress against the two vertical sides of the frame to create a snug, secure tie-off point, and it sets up in seconds with no tools. It's rated for 1 worker up to 310 lbs (combined weight of body, clothing, and tools) with a 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength, and it meets ANSI Z359.18-2017 plus OSHA 1926 and 1910. For finish, restoration, and interior trades that need a temporary anchor without penetrating the structure, it's a strong choice.
What standards does the Frontline WDJ50 non-penetrating anchor meet?
The Frontline WDJ50 meets or exceeds ANSI Z359.18-2017, OSHA 1926 (Subpart M), and OSHA 1910. It is classified as a temporary Type A anchorage connector and has been tested by an independent third-party lab. Its minimum breaking strength is 5,000 lbs (23 kN), meeting the OSHA requirement for a non-certified anchorage in a personal fall arrest system.
What is the weight capacity of the Frontline WDJ50 window/door jamb anchor?
The Frontline WDJ50 is rated for 1 person with a maximum combined weight of 310 lbs, including clothing, tools, and equipment. The anchor itself has a minimum breaking strength of 5,000 lbs / 23 kN, and the door or window frame it clamps into must also be able to withstand at least 5,000 lbs, verified by a qualified person before use.
What size door or window opening does the Frontline WDJ50 fit?
The Frontline WDJ50 has adjustable arms that fit door and window openings from 22" to 50" wide. The anchor must lie flat and unobstructed inside the opening, and the frame must be part of the building structure. To install, you position the horizontal body behind the frame with the D-ring facing the fall hazard, adjust the arms snug against both sides at 90°, insert the locking pin, secure it with the safety pin, and turn the pressure handle clockwise to tighten.
Does the Frontline WDJ50 anchor require drilling or tools to install?
No. The Frontline WDJ50 is a non-penetrating anchor — it installs in seconds with no tools and no drilling. It works by compressing its adjustable arms against the two vertical sides of a structural door or window frame, jamming into a snug, tight fit. Non-skid protective pads grip the frame and protect finished surfaces from damage. An ergonomic pressure handle is turned clockwise to lock it firmly in place.
Can the Frontline WDJ50 be used for fall arrest, restraint, and work positioning?
Yes. The Frontline WDJ50 is approved for personal fall arrest, restraint, and work positioning as part of a complete Personal Fall Arrest System (PFAS). In fall arrest, the maximum permissible free fall is 6 ft (1.8 m), and it must be used with a compatible harness plus a connecting device such as a lanyard or self-retracting lifeline. The D-ring must face outward toward the fall hazard; side loading is not allowed.
What is the Frontline WDJ50 anchor made of, and is it corrosion resistant?
The Frontline WDJ50 is built from high-strength ASTM A500 rated steel with a forged-steel D-ring and an electrostatic powder-coat finish (safety green), making it highly corrosion resistant and rugged for jobsite-to-jobsite use. It weighs 26 lbs, measures 48" x 9" x 2½", and has a service temperature range of -30°F to +130°F.
Is the Frontline WDJ50 anchor for permanent or temporary use?
The Frontline WDJ50 is a temporary, single-point Type A anchor. It is designed to be installed, used for the duration of a job, then removed and relocated — not permanently mounted. A qualified person must confirm the door or window frame is part of the building structure and can withstand the required 5,000 lb minimum breaking strength before each use.
How does the Frontline WDJ50 need to be loaded — can you pull on it from the side?
No side loading is allowed. On the Frontline WDJ50, the D-ring must face outward toward the fall hazard, and the connecting device must stay within a 90° vertical angle and no more than 15° off the center line when working off a window or door frame. Loading it from the side is prohibited and can compromise the anchor. Always inspect that the anchor is tight, stable, and flat before use.
Why choose a Frontline WDJ50 jamb anchor over a traditional penetrating anchor?
The main advantage is zero damage to the structure: the Frontline WDJ50 clamps inside a door or window opening with no drilling, screws, or holes, so it leaves finished walls and frames intact — ideal for restoration, remodels, and finished interiors. It's also fast (sets up in seconds, no tools), portable, and reusable across jobsites, versus a fixed penetrating anchor that requires drilling and patching. It still delivers a 5,000 lb breaking strength and meets ANSI Z359.18-2017 and OSHA 1926/1910.
Where can I buy the Frontline WDJ50 anchor, and does it come with a carrying bag?
The Frontline WDJ50 Window/Door Jamb Non-Penetrating Anchor is available at Industrial Safety Products (industrialsafetyproducts.com) with free shipping. It includes a Frontline-branded storage and carrying bag for easy transport and jobsite-to-jobsite portability. The portable design and 26 lb weight make it easy to move between work areas.
