Frontline HLK1004 4-person 100' Adjustable Horizontal Lifeline System with 6' Anchor Straps
Frontline introduces a new 4 man temporary horizontal lifeline made up of kernmantle rope of 5/8″ diameter and a uniquely designed tensioner integrated within the lifeline. This lifeline is equipped with 4 o-ring mobile anchors made up of high strength alloy steel.
The entire system is conveniently packaged in a bag with carry handles which is connected to the horizontal lifeline assembly. The lifeline's length is easily adjusted to the desired length with the integrated pulley and tensioner and the moment you give enough tension, the tension indicator will swivel freely indicating the system has enough tension. The bag is also designed in such a way that it keeps the unused rope stowed safely, once the systems is installed you can easily insert the extra rope back into the bag to keep the work area organized and to better protect the rope from contaminants or damage such as being cut or abraded.
The lifeline can be easily and quickly installed and it allows the user to adjust from spans from 15' up to 100'. With the Frontline horizontal lifeline you increase productivity, work more efficiently while never sacrificing safety.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Frontline HLK1004 4-person horizontal lifeline a good choice for a crew that needs a temporary rope lifeline for several workers on a roof or steel span?
Yes. The Frontline HLK1004 is a temporary, reusable horizontal lifeline built for up to 4 workers on a single span from 15 ft to 100 ft. It uses a 5/8" kernmantle rope with an integrated pulley-and-tensioner, four steel O-ring mobile anchors, and a swivel brass connector, and it packs into a carry bag for fast setup and teardown. It conforms to ANSI Z359.1-2007, EN 795:2012 Type C, and TS 16415:2013 Type C, and can be used for either fall arrest or restraint. For construction, steel-erection, and roofing crews that need a quick, portable HLL rather than a permanent engineered cable system, it's a strong fit. It ships free from Industrial Safety Products.
What safety standards does the Frontline HLK1004 horizontal lifeline meet?
The Frontline HLK1004 meets or exceeds ANSI Z359.1-2007, EN 795:2012 Type C, and TS 16415:2013 Type C for fall protection. EN 795 Type C covers flexible horizontal anchor lines, and the system's anchorage and connectors are rated to OSHA and ANSI applicable standards. Certification is held through SATRA Technology (Notified Body 2777), with ongoing assessment by SGS (Notified Body 0120).
What is included in the Frontline HLK1004 horizontal lifeline kit?
The Frontline HLK1004 kit includes a 5/8" kernmantle horizontal lifeline rope with an integrated pulley and tensioner, four steel O-ring mobile anchors, a swivel brass connector, a built-in tension indicator, a 0.944-inch tensioning spanner, and two (2) 6' Cross Arm Straps to create anchorage points. Everything stows in a bag with carry handles that also keeps unused rope protected on the job. It covers spans from 15 ft to 100 ft and ships free from Industrial Safety Products.
How does the tensioner and tension indicator on the Frontline HLK1004 work?
The Frontline HLK1004 has a tensioner integrated directly into the lifeline. After routing the rope through the pulley and anchoring both ends, you tension the line using the supplied 0.944-inch open-end spanner. Once the correct tension is reached, the tension indicator plate begins to rotate (swivel) freely — a simple visual cue that the line is properly tensioned and ready. At that point the O-rings and pass-through carriages can be used as mobile anchor points for the workers.
How many workers can the Frontline HLK1004 support and what is the weight limit per worker?
The Frontline HLK1004 supports up to 4 workers on a single span. The allowable weight per worker, including all clothing, tools, and equipment, is 130–310 lbs. In fall-arrest use it can support a maximum of 4 Personal Fall Arrest Systems (PFAS), and the receiving structure must be able to withstand the system loads (at least 3,375 lbs in the permitted directions; the manual also specifies the mounting structure hold an impact load of more than 5,000 lbs). Forces on anchors must be calculated by a Competent Person.
Can the Frontline HLK1004 be used for both fall arrest and restraint?
Yes — the Frontline HLK1004 can be used for either fall arrest or restraint, but NEVER for both simultaneously. In fall-arrest use it supports up to 4 PFAS. In restraint use it prevents workers from reaching a fall edge, and no free fall is permitted. Only one attachment is allowed per connection point, and all connectors must be self-locking, self-closing, and deemed compatible by a Competent Person to eliminate roll-out.
How do 4 workers pass each other on the Frontline HLK1004 lifeline without disconnecting?
The Frontline HLK1004 is supplied with steel pass-through carriage anchors on the single-span line. These crossover anchors let one worker move past another while staying continuously attached to the lifeline, so no one has to disconnect (and momentarily lose protection) when crossing. The four steel O-rings serve as the mobile anchor points where each worker connects their lanyard or SRL.
What span length does the Frontline HLK1004 horizontal lifeline cover?
The Frontline HLK1004 covers a single span from 15 ft up to 100 ft. The length is adjusted quickly on site using the integrated pulley and tensioner — you set the desired length and tension the line until the tension indicator swivels freely. The anchor line and anchor points must be positioned above the user's head, and line deflection increases with span and number of users (the manual provides a deflection chart for fall-clearance planning).
What are the anchorage and structure strength requirements for installing the Frontline HLK1004?
For the Frontline HLK1004, the receiving structure must be strong enough to hold an impact load of more than 5,000 lbs, and for both fall-arrest and restraint use the structure must withstand system loads of at least 3,375 lbs in the permitted directions. Anchor points and the horizontal line must sit above the user's head, and if no anchor point is available the included 6' Cross Arm Straps are used to create one. All anchor forces must be calculated, and the system installed, under the supervision of a Competent Person.
What is the rope construction and minimum breaking strength of the Frontline HLK1004?
The Frontline HLK1004 uses a 5/8-inch-diameter kernmantle rope with a minimum breaking strength of 5,620 lbs. The corrosion-resistant tensioner and pulley are built from aluminum and stainless steel, and the four mobile O-ring anchors are high-strength alloy steel. The complete system weighs 20.5 lbs (± 0.2 lbs), making it light enough to carry and reposition in its storage bag.
Frontline HLK1004 rope lifeline vs a steel cable horizontal lifeline — why choose the rope system?
The Frontline HLK1004 is a temporary, quickly deployable rope HLL rather than a permanent cable system. Its 5/8" kernmantle rope and integrated pulley-tensioner let one person adjust spans from 15 ft to 100 ft in minutes, and the whole kit — rope, tensioner, 4 O-rings, and two 6' cross arm straps — stows in a carry bag for reuse across jobsites. It supports up to 4 workers and meets ANSI Z359.1-2007 and EN 795:2012 Type C. Choose it when you need portability, fast setup/teardown, and reusability instead of a fixed engineered cable line.
What is the lifespan of the Frontline HLK1004 and how often must it be inspected?
The Frontline HLK1004 has an estimated lifespan of 10 years from the date of manufacture, though intense use, chemical or UV exposure, abrasion, cuts, and impacts can shorten it. It must be inspected by the user before EACH use for damage such as fraying, corrosion, or deformation, and formally inspected by a Competent Person (other than the user) at least every 6 months, with results recorded in the manual and on the equipment inspection grid label. Any equipment that fails inspection or has arrested a fall must be removed from service immediately.
