Because the HU-X1W1H1M1Q1-Y-N configuration includes a PID (VOC) sensor, its typical battery life is 14 hours at -4 °F / -20 °C (the 18-hour rating applies to BW Ultra builds without a PID or IR sensor). The rechargeable battery is included; a full first-time charge takes up to 8 hours. The detector also runs an automatic internal self-test of its sensors, battery and circuitry every 24 hours.
Not with the infrared (IR) combustible-sensor option. Honeywell cautions that the LEL IR combustible gas sensor option used in the BW Ultra cannot detect certain combustible gases, including hydrogen and acetylene, and advises that the application be reviewed to ensure the BW Ultra can provide adequate detection. If your confined space may contain hydrogen or acetylene, confirm the LEL sensor type before relying on the instrument for those gases, or contact Honeywell Analytics to specify the appropriate combustible sensor.
Hole Watch mode is the BW Ultra's default operating mode, designed for confined-space monitoring. It shows all gas levels on one screen using bar graphs that fill as concentrations rise, so a hole-watch attendant gets clear, at-a-glance situational awareness. When a single-gas alarm triggers, that gas is highlighted in a solid bar; for oxygen, the bar fills toward LO or HI. The BW Ultra also offers an Essentials mode (readings only) and an Inert mode for oxygen-deficient work, and it always monitors gas regardless of the selected mode.
