3M™ Scott™ carbon cylinder for SCBA users has a lightweight, composite cylinder consisting of an aluminum alloy inner shell with a total overwrap of carbon fiber, fiberglass and an epoxy resin. Working pressure 4500 psig and rated for 60 minute duration based on NIOSH breathing rates.

Continuing our commitment to the fire service, our 5.5 cylinder keeps the form, durability and capacity customers are accustomed to, while offering a reduction in weight and reduced profile.

As another “industry first,” 3M Scott increased the pressure to 5500psi and reduced the size and weight of the cylinder. To put it simply, we built a lighter, smaller and safer cylinder to help with reducing fatigue, improving productivity and decreasing injuries.

With the changes in the NFPA 1981, 2013 edition standard and the requirement for a 33% EOSTI, the 5.5 cylinder provides additional air capacity in a traditional form factor.
